Final Refection

My name is Kimberly Hatch and I am a character education teacher. I teach second graders, I am presently in my first year of teaching character educational classes to my students. Today my lesson will focus on the importance of my students being able to learn at an early age in their lives about building their goals and setting their self-esteem high in life. At the beginning of the class I would try my best with focusing in the 9 teaching methods of teaching styles. For instance, I would ask my students what does the words goal and self- esteem means. I would have the students to Skype with other students across the world as Ms. Cassidy did with her first grade class on what the words goal and self- esteem means in a more global matter. I would use equality sticks by entering the student’s names into my smart board to access the student’s answers for their Skype and research for checking for understanding. After checking how well my students understand the importance of goal setting and developing high self-esteem mean. I will instruct to my students how goals are something in their lives that they desire or want to achieve or accomplish. Self- esteem is all about having the inner belief that they can accomplish their goals.  Then I would have my students to make a blog about goal setting and building self-esteem.   The students will have to present their research by Skyping with other students their age on the Border States around them.  Now I hope this activity will be exciting to the students.

Then within my instructional guidance, I will move my attention on my visual tools that I will be utilizing throughout my teaching. The main tools that my students and I will use are computers and laptops to demonstrate how effective computer base teaching can truly be.   First, I would stand in front of my classroom and demonstrate to the student on conveying the usage of blogging. I would carefully use my blogging to build the platform for entirety of success for my students to accomplish their goals and have profound solid self- esteem. The base of my activity will use about six different blogs on others individuals their same age view or defining goals and self- esteem. Next, the students must be able to build their own web page demonstrating their own ideas of self and goal settings. My final visual demonstration will be show cased at a PTA night for my second grade students.  My parents will also be involved in my entire class activities. As a teacher, I will reinforce to my students on how important it is for them to embrace the new way of teaching by utilizing technology to the fullest.  From this activity my student’s would have built their way of  achieving and accomplishing their goals and building their self- esteem by developing a more understanding and love for technology learning. Also, from this assignment my student’s would not use a single sheet of paper. All of this assignment is based totally on the use of technology.

My students will grasp the understanding that even their goals can be accomplish symbolically as the celebrities' goals were accomplish and achieved. I will end my instructional time with my student's by saying my motto "Determination Today Lead To Success Tomorrow"!

Finally, one can easily understand and see how important it is for our students to learn about goals setting and developing great self- esteem from the totally usage of technology. My teaching strategies and methods, usage of tools, my student's learning process and my classroom itself gave my students the appropriate learning environment that they need throughout this classroom assignment and their lives.

A few more words.. I truly enjoyed learning about the importance of technology within the classroom throughout this class.

Project 13

Project 13 was interesting to complete.  One of the tools we used was Shared Google Documents in Google Drive. Other forms of communication were also effective through Facebook (Google chat, text, and personal messages). We tried to use other resources like; Google hang out and Skype. These resources were ineffective for us to use as a group, because we had some problems. Once we were able to collaborate with each other to complete this assignment it was more effective.

Blog Post #14

Teacher Knows if You Have Done the E-Reading article was about an instrument educational tool named "Course Smart" which monitor students on whether they were reading the assigned chapters from their professors.  The article talked about the pros and cons from professors using this software.  A pro was  allowing teachers to know if their students studying habits were good or poor.  One of the cons were how some of the students could just open up his or book on the computer and then just walk away and continue to do go along with their day as if they were still reading the book.

Teacher Point of View
Personally, in the point of view as a teacher, I am totally against this type of software.  Mainly because to be honest as a teacher I cannot promise myself that I will actually get on the computer every day and monitor the students progress on their reading assignments.  Also, by the time students get to the college level they probably already have mastered their studying habits.  This software is kind of  too noisy for me even if I was a teacher.  Smart instrument, but too much monitoring for a college level.

In The Student's Point of View
In the student point of view they might see this instrument as another challenge for them too somehow trick.  Like the article said "Some students may open up their book assignment on their computer and move on with their usual day".  Furthermore, to of course some students they may see this tool as a motivation incentive.  If they already know that their professors are monitoring them they would be more serious about making sure that they read their assignment.  These type of students feel if the instrument is smart enough to monitor whether the book is opened then the software is smart enough to know whether the scroll button is being moved up and down and so on.  In other words, there are a lot of students would not second guess the "Course Smart" software.  These type of students usually are the ones who are doing their work anyway.

Questions for the Teacher
How would you truly know if your students were doing their readings?
How much extra time will this monitoring take as a teacher
Do you think you students would try to out smart the "Course Smart" software?
Is this tool expensive?

Questions for the Students
Do you enjoy being monitored constantly by your professor?
Do you like this "Course Smart" Software?
Do you score higher by using this software?
Do you prefer writing your notes down and listening to a teacher teach?
Would you try to out smart the "Course Smart" software?

My Comments
Overall, I think that this instrument is an ingenious idea for teachers.  Especially for those teachers who are in the lower grade levels below the college level.  Students who are at the college level are adults and adults do not like to be monitored constantly be their professors.  College students like to feel free and trustworthy until proven different.  In conclusion, as a future teacher I might be interested in utilizing this instrument, but only once in a while.  I could not promise myself that I would be faithful as a teacher with monitoring my students on a daily basis wondering if they have done my reading assignment or not.  It almost seem like cyber harassment somewhat.

Final report on PLN

Personal Learning Networking is a great way to have all of your personal websites in one area. This is a form of book marking or saving as favorites, but way better. The social media has allowed this to be available easier and spread faster throughout. It's a wonderful way to stay connected with people who have common interest and resources. By using and creating your own PLN, you can have information almost instantly from anywhere. I foresee using PLN as a way of keeping up with the latest changes in education and technology to ensure a productive learning environment.

Blog Post #13

The video about "Brian Crosby, (Agnes Risley Elementary School, Nevada) Back To the Future" Mr. Crosby spoke about how serious it was teaching his students who had English as a second language and how most of the students did not have land phones or did not even know their phone numbers and they were fourth graders and sixth graders.  He stated how important it was for teachers to make learning fun and interesting by bringing schema into the student's learning.  He also stated how important it was for teachers to bring out imagination and creativity throughout their teaching style for the students.

The video showed how Mr. Crosby brought schema with his fourth grade science class by having his students to blog about their attitude "High Balloon Project"!  This was about how the students had to imagine that they were the balloon flying in the air.  They had to write in their blogs about what it would be like flying high in the sky as a balloon.  Also, they had to write down when the balloon exploded how that would have felt also.  Mr. Crosby also had the students to make their own wiki webs.  The students had the chance to talk to other students across the world.  The students loved their blogging and the high schema learning from Mr. Crosby.  Mr. Crosby had a "Flicker Account" which gave the students the chance to broaden their learning.  I just love how Mr. Crosby brought schema learning in his classroom and outside his classroom.  He literally brought the words out of the book. In his classroom he also showed how a soda cane exploded from helium in the classroom.  Wow!  What a great teacher.  I just hope I can become a third of the kind of teacher that Mr. Crosby has  become within his thirty years of teaching.  There are not any barriers that Mr. Crosby cannot cross.  Therefore, that gives me a chance to do the same as a teacher.  I must bring "Schema" in my classroom as a teacher as well.  I truly loved this video and learned a lot.  Great job Mr. Crosby!

Mr. Paul Andersen's strategies that he used on "Blended Learning Cycle" were characterized into six catagories as the acronyms  "QUIVERS".

QU- This strategy was known as the "Good Question"!  The hook is what Mr. Andersen called it. Mr. Andersen stated that each classroom assignment should start off with a great question.  You should always gain the student's interest at the beginning of every class with a great question to maintain the students attention.

I- This strategy was used to "Investigate"!  During this strategy students should be able to make inquiries and do experiments.  The students had the chance to collect a lot of data on a shared spread sheet.

V- This strategy was mainly about making a video.  The video usually was about 8 minutes long.  The students had the chance at this time to learn how to apply all of their information.

E- Elaboration- During this strategy students have a chance to do a lot of reading, and make
diagrams.

R- Review-  This strategy was all about meeting with the students on an individual basis or in small group.  During this time, Mr. Andersen stated how he would implement a  lot of probing questions to his students to see how much did they really understand about the subject matter.  This strategy was pretty intense for the students because they had to be able to answer Mr. Andersen's questions thoroughly with a full understanding answer.  Oh, you could not move on to the last strategy unless you fully understood and explained all of Mr. Andersen's questions thoroughly and correctly

S-  The last strategy was "Summary Quiz"!  This strategy consisted of a timed quiz known as the "Unit Test"  If they did not do well on it then they would have to go back to the review strategy and then move on to strategy six and try the quiz over again and again.

Personally, I love Mr. Andersen's strategies.  The entire idea of "Blended Learning Cycle" is new and witty to me.  I truly like the way he makes an acronyms for helping his student's to learn their subject matter.  I even like the spinning disc (eye catcher) that he used to captivate his student's attention.  I will try to integrate these strategies within my classroom someday.  The only thing I am not sure I would use is the timed quiz!  I do not like putting a time on any test because I feel students should not feel any pressure when taking a test.  Therefore, my quiz would not have a time limit.  Overall, great method of teaching Mr. Andersen.

Final Project update

In my group's final project we have watched a lot of other final projects from different semesters to help us with ideas. Our group project will be based on things to do and what not to do to survive this class. We have worked extremely hard to make this project successful.

Blog Post #12

Ms. Cassidy stated that she feels every subject matter can utilize technology within their classrooms.

Write a post on rather all subject matters (Including Physical Education) can implement or utilize technology in a classroom setting or can only core course teachers utilize technology.

Technology is here to stay. I feel that technology is going to continue to expand throughout the world. Physical Education can utilize technology by having a smart board centered in a safe area in the gymnasium. Physical Education's teachers could assign their students to develop a physical Education blog with other students across the world.

For instance, students who are in football could blog with other football players to get a unique strategy to implement into their team squad. These football strategies could be located across the world thousands of miles apart. Physical Education teachers could also have their students to Skype with other students to get a chance to see other students with the same sport interest face- to- face.

In conclusion, to fully answer my own blog question, I would have to agree with Ms. Cassidy and say technology could and should be implemented into all subject matter areas.

Ms. Cassidy's approaches for using technology with her first graders are awesome. She stated how she received 5 computers in her classroom and that if classrooms have 5 things or more she could make this a center in her classroom. Ms. Cassidy used technology with her students by introducing her students to developing web pages, and blogging. This type of learning helped to enhance the students learning and technology skills. She also stated how she received funding from the government and she developed a permission slip form for parents to sign for their children to use the internet.  Ms. Cassidy utilized technology by having her students use the internet for   researching and learning. Creating an atmosphere to blog was used to enhance their writing skills.

From viewing the two videos and listening to Ms. Cassidy herself. I would most definitely try to use some of the same approaches she uses with the technology in my classroom. For instance, as a physical education major I would have students to go to the computer lab to set up blogging for creating comments on their favorite sport and give comments to other students. Example ( Who is going to win the Super Bowl?) I feel that this type of technology used would engage my students a whole lot. Also, I would of course have my students to Skype to other college athletes to talk about their experience as a candidate of becoming a professional athlete.

If any impediments try to come about I would already have set up technology rules and sites for them to go on. I would most definitely monitor their usage while on these sites. If any problems continue then this student may be asked to discontinue usage of technology in my classroom.

In conclusion, the benefits from my using technology in my classroom would be exciting for my students and me. I might even have the chance to become a pioneer for other physical education teachers to begin utilizing more technology in their classroom. Great Job Ms. Cassidy!

Adventures in Pencil Integration

This cartoon is most definitely trying to get the message across that "Ticonderoga" is made better and more expensive.  Therefore, the cartoon is insinuating that it is better to buy a more expensive "P.C." then the paper mate brand.  The cartoon is also insinuating how the Ticonderoga is most definitely the best pencil and the paper mate pencil fall in where ever it can. Since this brand is suppose to be cheaper.  Oh well, I am not sure that more expensive is necessarily better anyway.  For the most part you are just paying for the "Named Brand".  In conclusion, as long as cheaper is working for me in this expensive economy it really does not matter what the  product brand is named or labeled.

Why Were Your Kids Playing Games?  Was about how a teacher and principal had a disagreement between different styles of learning.  The principal and teacher disagreement was between memorizing style of learning and the style of teaching students in a variety ways.  The principal did not like the style of learning by the teacher (playing games) so he denounced his method of teaching.  The teacher would argue his method of teaching by using the different styles of learning through games, visuals, and drawings truly help his students to learn and grasp whatever he was teaching them. Personally, when I was in school I did have a teacher who use to use games as a way for her getting the subject matter across to her students.  I found her class to be more interesting and her diverse style of teaching truly stuck with me. When I become a teacher I plan on utilizing a variety style of teaching also within my classroom.  I do not want to fall into the closed box syndrome like the principal did. Providing diversity teaching is wonderful.

Don't Teach Your Kids This Stuff. Please?

Aims at the pitfalls of using technology.  People should be taught the best way for using technology and the pitfalls would not happen. This is the main reason why parents should utilize the parental control device on their internets.  Children will truly understand the importance of technology if parents do the initial parts of teaching their children appropriately on the usage of the internet service. I think when parents keep their children off of the internet or just the use of technology they are crippling their children in the world of muti media technology.  This could most definitely keep  and limit their children in their education and careers.  Economy is bad enough.  Technology changes everyday.  Therefore, parents and children should  change right along with it. I am a firm believer that technology is most defintley in the present and is needed.  The future of technology is too brilliant for many  to understand, but they still should not  limit their children in their new horizons of learning. In conclusion,  I speak firmly about allowing technology to continually open many doors for us, and embrace this new style of learning.  Let us not cripple our children, but please let us challenge their minds to new horizons.

Version 4 Post (2011-2012)

In volume four post Joe McClung did a great job with expressing how important it is for people to stick to their dreams in life.  He called this dancing with whom you are with.  In other words, wherever you may be placed as a teacher make sure you accept the challenge that has given unto you with love and the mind to accomplish any task.  I agree with Joe McClung on his method of accomplishing his challenges.  This post also expressed how important it was to not become a routine teacher.  As teachers, he stated how important it is for teachers to develop fun lesson plans, try different subject matters to teach, and to make fun activities for their students so they will not become bore at school.  I most definitely agree with Joe McClung. When I become a teacher I will make sure that I challenge myself, when working on my classroom lesson plans and activities.

What I've Learned This Year (2008-2009)

In Post "What I've learned This Year (2008-2009)" Mr. McClung taught science in his classroom.  He also post how they were studying earthquakes and the school had an earthquake drill while class was going on.  He kept the parents informed on pretty much everything that was going on interesting  in their child's school.  I truly liked the way McClung kept his student's parents informed. When I become a teacher I plan to do the same with my students. I just love the way Mr. McClung get so involved in his teaching career.  He makes sure that the students are being challenged enough to where they can say I really feel that I learned a whole lot and McClung is really a great teacher.  From just reading the posts that I did read seem like Mr. McClung takes his job very serious and I hope that I can become just half the teacher as Mr.McClung.

This Is How We Dream Parts 1 and 2

These two videos were extremely informative about what the world of higher learning has to offer for the future.  I found Richard Miller's expounding words about how now learning is carried out through word processors, and how many students now carry their laptops around with them wherever they may go as most definitely telling the truth.  Learning is now at the fingers of a desktop, and research books are now at the fingers of the clicking on a web.

This video also put great emphasis on how the world is now moving vastly toward a equalizing stage of sharing knowledge across the web.  Part 2 of the video expressed comments on the new kind of materials that student's writings are experiencing.  Mr. Miller stated how he had downloaded a lecture to his students and it only took 3 months and over 9,000 views had gone to his lecture site and went into blogging.  He also said on this kind of lecture normally it would have taken at least 2 years to come out.

I find this style of learning and researching as far from the normalcy style of learning when students had to actually go into a library and pull out Dewey Decimal cards to do their research.  Personally, I find researching the web, and blogging as great way to learn. I agree with Richard Miller that learning is now using more creativity and students are now using the web itself to present the affect of the global world.

Part 2 video also expressed how learning is moving more into an inspiring pedagogies way of shared learning. This video spoke on how science and humanity is now a shared way of learning.  Mr. Miller finalized his video by reinforcing how important it is for us to remember to continue to dream and share the fundamental documents on what we have to offer.  He ended by stating how this "Humanity belongs to no one"!  I totally agree that technology is still at the surface on what is truly in stored in the future of learning.

Carly Pugh's Post

I truly enjoyed reading Carly Pugh's blog post #12. Carly's assignment calls for someone to understand how to communicate through texting, auditory, visual, and oral components which is somewhat very similar to what Miller talked about in his videos. It would be really awesome to put such music together and make a video which shows my way of teaching my philosophy, benchmarks, goals, and contributions, in order to add it to a portfolio for future review by any given potential employers. Since the world is moving to a very strong emphasis of multimedia writing, I believe portfolios should do the same. I also believe my students should use this kind of  assignment to create any given assignment.

The Chipper Series and Edm310 for Dummies

I would like to create or participate in creating a video that deals with the fascination of Multi-Media style of learning. I feel that students can learn more when researching through webbing and blogging.  My video would showcase a variety of success stories of students learning through a more broaden style of learning through professional educators throughout the world.  This way, multi-media would continually help students to not limit their learning to just one library book or one school book.  I feel multi-media learning is truly the best way to learn for the future.

Learn to Change, Change to Learn

After viewing the different videos "Learn to change, Change to learn" I have to agree with the arguments that the professional educators made.  I agree that the twenty first century learners are on a whole new higher level of learning.  I agree that education today is much more stimulated and students are learning more technology then ever.  Now students are about to reflect, retract, and retreat from learning online from some of the best quality of teachers.

I also agree with the video when it stated how this kind of transformation of learning must be carried out through the teachers first then by the students. Teachers must embrace global learning then their students can most definitely embrace global learning. I feel that education should never be limited to just one teacher's point of view on an interpretation of a given topic, but learning should be global to the world's interpretation of learning.  The mind truly is a terrible thing to waist so why limit its way of learning.

Project#9 My PLN

Personally, when  I initially began reading about a PLN I was confused. This learning method known as Personal Learning Network is new information for me. Either way, I watched the videos Dr. Strange gave us, I began following several of the people suggested on Twitter. I have come to the understanding that I have more connections then I realized.  I am close with other students and even some teachers.  I work at a elementary school, so I come into contact with teachers on a daily basis. I have connections everywhere, along with all the connections that are possible on the internet through Facebook, Twitter, Blogger and all the other resources that are out there. Although, I am already connecting with educators, I still desire to learn from the best educators.  I know educators do not have all of the best answers, but learning through PLN style of learning sure can broaden the enrichment of a student style of learning.

Randy Pausch's Last Lecture

Dr. Randy Pausch’s lecture was truly one of the most inspirational videos that I have ever seen. I couldn’t imagine how wonderful it would be to actually hear this key note speaker in person. I believe that he could interact with audiences of any occupational and educational background. He has many words of encouragement. Dr. Pausch would make anyone feel that he/she could accomplish goals and childhood dreams without any barriers.

It is truly remarkable the information that he provides during his lecture pertaining to childhood dreams. As a future educator, I plan to take his approach into my classroom. I hope to provide students with stimulating activities that allow them to be free thinkers and imaginers. Inspiring others and giving them the opportunity to dream.  I love the quote he uses in his video, “Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.”  This comes and goes throughout life with the people we meet and the trials and tribulations that we are faced with as a child to an adult.

This allows for someone to work above and beyond their ability. His students are already promised jobs after completion of the program; which signifies to me that his approach to teaching and learning must be working. Given the opportunity to follow ones dreams allows for a person to be able to believe, achieve, and succeed.

Marquinton Snowden is 10th grade student at Baldwin County High School. Ms. Jamie Lyua Martin is the 10grade teacher at Baldwin County High School.
Marquinton post was about Indians and Pilgrims.

This article was a wonderful article to read. Personally, I feel that more cultures need to practice more love and peace when dealing with any issues of life like the Indians and Pilgrims. The world needs more togetherness, humbleness, and a more loving sense of one accord of unification as a human race. Great job!

Kayla is a student in Ms. Balestrin's second grade classroom at Southwestern Ontario.
Kayla has a dog name princess that she wrote a post about.

I think having a dog is great. I have a dog that lives with me too. My dog name is Dee Dee. She is ten years old. I would love to meet Princess one day. Keep up the good work!

Blog Post #6

The Networked Student

undefined

This video was talking about the 21st century student (Connectism). My reaction to this video can be summed up in three words: informative, educators, and research.
This video was very informative about the 21st century students way of learning (Connectism). The video talked about how students had to network on the computer to find their own knowledge for any given course. I find this way of learning to be extremely exciting.
This video also talked about the importance of why 21st century students still need a teacher to guide and instruct students through their knowledge by internet access and blogging. The video discussed how 21st century teachers are still needed for helping students by serving in the capacity as a learning architect, a model for the students, serving as a network sherpa, and serving as a change agent. The teachers also are utilized as the connecting learner facilitator and synthesizer. The video also stated how the 21st century teachers have hope for all of their students to learn how to leave their internet class with a mind to continue to navigate and maintain his/her website networking and continue to solve the problems of the 21st century. Now that statement touched my heart. I feel the same way Ms. Drexler feels about the 21st century teachers. Internet learning is not just convenient for the student and teacher, but it is a great way for a teacher to make learning a whole lot more fun for the student. I feel that technology is a very positive way for our student's today to learn.
Finally, the video talked about research. The video focused on how the students have to utilize the internet services to research and blog. The teacher helps the student to separate good information from propaganda information from internet researching. I feel that the internet can increase a students knowledge on any given subject or topic. Also, that research has always been a great way of learning and increasing ones knowledge; whether it is by an encyclopedia or by a computer through internet. This video was defintitely an eye opener on how learning through the internet is now seen, and how successful it is becoming. I hope this way of learning continues to promote a positive learning environment.
A 7th Grader's Personal Learning Environment

My Personal Learning Network is still in its beginning stage. I try to learn as much as I can using a variety of assistance. This video showed a great way for students to learn how to utilize Networks such as Blogging, Skype, and Twitter. The girl in the video seems like she learned a lot during her science class. She expressed how her science class did not use any paper. I thought that was interesting. I also use the bookmaking bar because I feel this is a great way to keep up with your work along with any links to specific sites. I like the different sites that this video utilized. I feel that this is a great way of learning.

Project #10  Finding the Right Tool

The technology tool I chose to use is a state of Alabama website called, "Alabama Learning Exchange" or it is known as ALEX. This site has so many benefits to teachers and administrators. It provides teachers with course of study objectives and ready made lesson plans. This is a great tool for new teachers ensuring that the standards of the grade level are being taught and mastered. On the home page, you will find a variety of tools to use in the classroom. Some of these to mention are Podcast Treasury, Web Resources, and Professional learning experiences. I have really learned a lot by exploring this website. I have started creating a portfolio of information from this site that I know will help me in becoming a 21st century educator.

Krissy Venosdale's School

I feel that she personally believe that a teacher truly should never stop learning. Krissy feel once the learning has stopped.  The teaching has stopped.  Also, from viewing Krissy Venosdale's School seem like Krissy is extremely creative in her horizons.  She does not limit her creativity to the minds of ordinary classrooms and schools. Her school focus on everyone!  Not just the way the school environment looks, but the way the students are learning and how the teachers are broaden their creativity's. She shows this throughout the schools for the teachers and the parking lot showcasing the signs. I am proud to see that these kind of schools exist.

I do love the environment that she is giving to the students on the importance of neon learning and those individuals who just love creativity and in their environments.  Personally, to me this type of environment for students makes the students have and develop a strong desire for learning.  Children truly love things in 3D or things dispensing from the walls and ceilings. If I had to build a school I would focus on creativity also, but I would also implement into my school for everyone including teachers to have the most recent update of technology.  This world has pulled away from old standards and geared up for technology.  I would also focus on all my students in the school to learn Spanish fluently.  I feel that this is necessary so we can make students ready for accepting different cultures. Therefore, I probably will implement the Rosetta Stone Language Instrument into my school. When dealing with technology I will have large touchscreen computers in each classrooms.  This way, the teachers can use these as an incentive for their students. The students can have knowledge on  the latest technology.  I also would focus on my teachers planning more field trips associated with their subject matter.  This will help the students to experience a variety of ways of learning. I must have the students and the teachers to focus on more community out reach programs. This will build character among the students and the community.  Parental involvement is a must.  Therefore, I might would serve free dinner to students and parents once a quarter to help build parental environment.  Also, during Mardi Gras season I would have a parade at the school to continually to promote parental environment. I do realize that it truly does take a village to raise a family.

I am a blogger

Well after reading Jennifer Chamber post it.  This did broaden my knowledge on their is a difference in blogging and a "Blogger".  Jennifer finally realize that blogging was something that you wanted to share to the world.  Not doing something for any particular assignment.  Bloggers usually post something that they want to willingly share as poems, videos, articles, and journals etc.  Bloggers are excited to share to the world their blog.

Eric Whitacre's choir

Now this video was extremely interesting to watch.  It kind of destroys the statement that a picture is worth a million words.  During this video Eric Whitacre was able to use technology on a entirely different level.  Now that was amazing on its own.  It was awesome how Mr. Eric was able to utilize technology and develop a choir from 12 different countries and combine them as one from utilizing this technology as if all of the choir members were in the same place.  Great Job! I just love technology it is creative an impeding all in one. The sound was even great!  Wow!  Now you cannot really believe what you are seeing these days. The positive side of this choir is how now one can make a video song with many people involved with the tracks, but not have to be their as one whole group.  This type of technology also help with uniting cultures across the lands and many miles apart.

Teaching in the twenty first century

This presentation was interesting. This part of technology is what kind of scare me a tab.  I do realize that technology is great!  It kind of take away from the teachers thinking of their own creative ideas of mastery. It also broaden teaching to a entirely different level. When dealing with difficult science courses.  I still feel that teachers should focus on important skills to implement into their teaching strategies.

Flipped Classroom

Katie Gimbar's, Dr. Lodge McCammon's, and Ms. Munafo's you tube videos were extremely useful in explaining what flipping is. When "flipping" the teacher takes the lecture out of the classroom and sends it home and changes homework into classwork.  I think this is awesome! This allows the students to practice using computers, additional access to review lectures, and more time in the classroom with the teacher to go over questions. In this process the students are able to understand more information in the same amount of time that is allowed in class during the day.

Personally, I believe that this technique will be awesome to implement into my classroom and I plan to use it in the near future. I do want to extend the time I get to interact with the kids so that I can see who needs more help on each topic. Flipping my classroom is also a good way for parents to see what their children are doing in class and they could participate more in the learning process.

Blog Post #4

Landwitches

This assignment was informative in its very own way.  For instance, Landwitches used different examples of how to create a positive podcast.  For instance, the podcast that was shown within this assignment has them reading things that they might not would have read in many years.. We read "Dinosaurs Before Dark"  Personally, I do not care about reading about dinosaurs, but for a grade of course I would.  One can hear the fun and excitement in their voices.  Meanwhile, the students are shown  paying attention of the recording which shown the students are very much entertained and interested in what  was going on.  The students were also tuned into  the surrounding of the recordings as well.

Personally, I feel that students should work collaborative when creating podcast.  This may give students a sense of individualizing creativity with togetherness. They can input their own spirit within their dramatic creativity.  Either way, they must become the person that they are trying to portray.
Now, it is already a known fact that children work at different pace within their learning.  Therefore, when  children do work together within a group collaboratively this gives an up boost to any teacher's teaching moment or a subject matter more improvement.  Maybe some day it would be wise for me to try podcast when I become a teacher.  Podcast could possible be a great way for future teachers to utilize  to introduce a technology fulfillment  learning atmosphere.

Pod Casting with a First Grader

This Pod Casting reminded me of something that I seen done at my workplace.  Pretty much similar to in-house-transitioning.  For instance, the performance of the second graders  made the first graders desire to create  their own creative podcast.  The togetherness of the groups made an impressive atmosphere for them to want to relate to the same experiences that they had experienced.  For instance, while recording , the first graders chilled and waited for their turn and was very much interested on what was going on with every one's else role.  Therefore, during time of learning the podcast most definitely gave all first grade students to have a chance to meditate on what is exactly being read to them.  When first graders are in the first grade "Listening skills and Comprehension"  is a gigantic deal for first graders.

Personally, the information that was presented was outstanding to any student to view.  I feel that it would make anyone with good sense to become  overwhelmingly  excited to see young people (children) learning throughout their lives.  Possibly, it could help these children to become even more interactive throughout the world of living.   Oh well, when I think about it, I just might try to get pod cast implemented into my classroom some day.

Flat Stanley
First of all,  I just love the title and imaginary of "Flat Stanley"!  This truly gives the students a chance to not just learn their country's living styles, but other countries living styles also.  I know I did not have this privilege when I was growing up. I even tried to have a "Pen Pal" and that did not even work for me at all.  Flat Stanley is a great way to get children from across different lands to learn more about different cultures and life styles.  I personally feel this is "Wonderful"!    Furthermore, "Flat Stanley" is a way to enhance students involvement and understanding in geography, life styles, and ethnicity of the different people.  This project is most definitely imperative for any school aged child.

Once again, this project is a grand idea for all students to implement into their lives especially for elementary aged children.  Technology already makes young children realize that "home" is very small compared to the rest of the world of living.  I really cannot wait to try this project in my classroom someday.

WolframAlpha

The population of India to the United States is what I chose to compare using the Wolfram Alpha data base. In India there are-1.21 billion, China-1.35 billion, and the United States- 309 million. The comparative searches for Wolfram Alpha are listed as followed. First, search  Annual births United States vs. India, United States-4.29 million and India-25.6 million. Second, Annual deaths United States vs. India, United States-2.5 million and India 7.37 million.

WolframAlpha introduces a fundamentally new way to get knowledge and answers. This computational knowledge engine is used in all subject areas. It is not a search engine, like google. It provides you with factual information pertaining to your inquiry. As an educator, I think this would be a good resource, because of the explicit results in the information it gives you. For example; if you are trying to compare your school data with that of another State or country, Wolfram Alpha would provides you with that information and in graphs or calculations that fits the individuals needs based on the search.

Gary Hayes Social Media Count

From watching the screen shot which was about two to three minutes long, personally I feel this could be a time when one could take some kind of break or chill pill to relax and come to the realization that about 5 million likes or dislikes, and even comments were probably made on Face book or U-tube.

When thinking back I can remember reading in educational journals about how social life styles are gaining more and more recognition throughout social media.  From earlier learning's and even in this class I can clearly see how the world is embracing and rushing into a world of technology for not only the future social media, but also future education.

I know for instance, someone who may have lived 78 years ago would have figured that social media, and technology as a whole was unheard of.  Undoubtedly, they may even see education as a future degree planning with technology as a joke.  When in actuality, many future educators are becoming state holders in the education system from high school,  and extracurricular activities.  Who knows in the near future we may be embracing technology in working coal mines or priest confession rooms.  From dealing with the  technology movement which is not nearly getting ready to slow down any time soon,  I will strongly recommend any young married couple to rear up their children at an early age  on developing a strong sense of technology so they can be ready to embrace the inevitably changing world of technology.
